From 0 to 1 to Unicorn: Introducing a Newsletter About Our New Journey of Building an AI Startup
5 months ago, my 2 friends and I left our jobs to start a new startup. In this newsletter I will take you inside of our journey, sharing product ideas we're working on, marketing tactics we use to get customers and how we build product while staying lean and not raising funds (yet). I'll be open about our progress, key lessons, failures, and wins along the way. I'll also share our discovered latest tech breakthroughs, especially in AI and SaaS, that could inspire new startups.
Our motivation for sharing this journey has two parts.
First, we love hearing and reading other founders' stories, so we want to share ours with those who are building or planning to build startups. Entrepreneurship is fulfilling, exciting, fun but uncertain and scary all at the same time. Building great products that people love is hard. Building great companies is even harder. We don't know if we'll make it, but we're sure this journey will be interesting, eventful, and thrilling. It already is actually.
Second, we know we can't build great products and business without help from others. Early users, first customers and partners, new team members, investors and mentors, fellow entrepreneurs, and even those who just cheer for us from the sidelines and bring optimism or opportunities - all of these connections are crucial for success. If we can make new connections or strengthen existing ones by writing this newsletter, it would be a big help in this journey.
As Sam Altman said, “Optimism, obsession, self-belief, raw horsepower, and personal connections are how things get started.”
The name of our newsletter - From 0 to 1 to Unicorn, reflects both our current stage and our long-term vision. Right now, we're in the very early stages, building from nothing to something, but our ultimate goal is to build a unicorn company. I love the quote - "Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground."
I'll start by writing 4 articles:
Our story and how we got here (—> coming out early next week)
Our method and principles of building from 0 to 1
Building Flowtest.ai - our current product idea we are working on
2 ideas that we have already validated but decided not to continue
If this writing series gets some subscribers and positive feedback, I'll continue with more articles. So subscribe and I want to hear from you in the comments or DMs - what topics or questions would you like me to cover?
